You do not have all required MediaWiki extensions installed. Wikipedia
uses many extensions (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Version), some of them are
required for proper rendering, especially ParserFunctions
(
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ParserFunctions), as is the
problem here (another important extension, off the top of my head, is
the Cite extension –
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Cite –
which provides for <ref> and <references>).
