Checking Special:Newpages and Special:Newimages is haphazard at best - a lot of stuff slips through the cracks, and other stuff gets double checked.
And then there is also Special:Recentchanges ...
To build an "incoming check sanity work queue" is the idea behind the "stable version" feature (or at least half of it).
