Thanks for the explanation :)
I put the comments (and urls, if any) on the extensions that I use,
and I love seeing the Special:Version looks complete on my sites. And
since I always using the latest version from the SVN, I really don't
know how it looks on <1.9. I'm going to set up a test site using one
of the old versions to see how it looks.

Ack! Sorry if my earlier mini-rant scared you off - it doesn't
actually break anything, it just looks a bit peculiar in MediaWiki <
1.9.0.
You'll typically know if you make a breaking change to some of my code
because I'll get even more sarcastic and hideous than usual and
probably revert you with something snide.
