Now, I thought it was possible to remove part of texts. It is important to know it is not possible. So, if I understand well, only entire page, or individual versions can be deleted ?
Hypothetically we could alter the contents of individual revisions, but a) this is very hard to do right now b) this will get much much harder in the future c) it may become more or less impossible in the future (technical requirements for immutable revision contents to make the storage backend work and replicate cleanly) d) tampering with the contents of historical revisions strikes me as morally repugnant, even if it's legal. It sets a precedent for altering history according to whim. It's the *edit history*, not the *current public version*, for a reason.
Well, best to know what we can and can not do, so as not to pretend we can do something when we cannot. I certainly made a mistake in saying Actualys the comments would be deleted permanently; my mistake. Next time, I will not.
I do not like anymore than you the idea of altering history. But I feel that if someone can sue us due to lies being on Wikipedia, it is worth doing it. It is not only a legal perspective. It is only showing readers that we have a certain ethic, and that if someone says the worse crap on them, we will try to restore the truth rather than propagating it.
For the record, I do not appreciate at all the term "whim" applied to my request, nor the qualification of morally repugnant, Brion. I understand you do not like doing this, but it is a very very very poor feedback for the pain and time I spent with Izwalito case.
