If i read correctly, a release of LiquidThreads will
only be available
with the release of MediaWiki 2.0. I read about MediaWiki 2.0 the first
time a few days ago, is there already a code available? Who is mainly
responsible for this project? Where are more infos available?
I hate to disappoint you, but as far as I'm aware LiquidThreads, and
anything else that's been put forward for "MediaWiki 2.0" is currently
nothing more than a concept. The development of the existing code is
heavily constrained by the lack of full-time developers, and there are
all sorts of things people would *like* to do, and even things that
*need* doing [as in bug-fixes, etc], which are simply having to be put
off indefinitely.
So, as far as I know, MediaWiki 2.0 isn't really a project at all;
it's a set of aims, that, if there were time to make really major
changes to the software, would be the priorities. That's not to say
it'll never happen, but I think it would be unwise to try and predict
when it will. As for features, like LiquidThreads, that are labelled
as "coming in 2.0" or whatever, I think that's more or less a way of
saying "this isn't something that's coming any time soon, but if I had
time I'd try coding it".
So IMHO MediaWiki 2.0 is a real great project. This
time, the main
target should be - from the beginning on - perfect extensibility,
logically structured code (1 parser class in 1 file ;) ), increase of
performance and so on ..
These are indeed great aims, and if anyone had the time to do such a
rewrite it would be enormously useful. But I'm afraid I don't see
anyone getting round to it any time soon. Sorry to disappoint.
