Please don't try to ban your own username! Ban a friend's instead (with permission, of course).
BECAUSE: If you ban yourself, I think you're next attempt to log in (to unban yourself) will CAUSE YOUR IP ADDRESS TO BE AUTOMATICALLY BANNED. There is no way for a sysop to unban themselves. Only ANOTHER SYSOP can do this.
Am I right, Brion/Tim/Magnus/et al., or am I just being my usual alarmist, over-protective self?

I have done it (to check the messages banned players get on nl:), and if one has banned oneself (or has been banned by another sysop), one can unban oneself, then unban one's own IP address without any problems. Problems only occur if one tries to unban one's IP address while still being banned oneself, the IP address will then automatically be re-banned. But this is easily solved by _first_ unbanning oneself as a registered user, and only _then_ unbanning one's own IP address. That way there is nothing to worry about.
