Kai,
In order for mediawiki to support this format, someone needs to
find the document that specifies it. It doesn't comply with the ISBN
standard format as documented at
http://www.isbn-international.org/en/manual.html. Simply showing that
online booksellers use another format doesn't help write the mediawiki
code that would spot one of these; clearly the number has some
standard format, and we need to know what that format is.
These are Amazon Standard ID Numbers. They are nonstandard (despite
the name) and utterly useless outside of Amazon's properties.
I do *not* suggest MediaWiki add support for these; non-Amazon sites
can't do anything with them, and I don't think we want to tie
ourselves to Amazon.
