I agree 1,000,000 percent!! We're a small group and "we all know" that
the software is GPL, but we should formalize it.
We should put the "usual" COPYING files and whatever else normally
comes with GPL software into the CVS. And from time to time, we
should generate a slightly more formal "release" with a version
number.
One feature that I think users of the software might want is an option
$ThisSiteIsReadOnlyMirror = 1; # Well, maybe a better name could be chosen
A read only mirror site looks like a regular site, except all of the
edit links are gone, replaced by a link to visit the main site, or
something that seems like what most read-only licensees will want.
My view is that the software is _secondary_ to OUR project, the encyclopedia.
So I think we can focus our efforts on uses of the software that have to do
with the encyclopedia. But of course, other people may want to use the software
for totally unrelated things. That'll be cool, too.

I think we should add the GPL license to the cvs tree

copyright notice to the top of the scripts as soon as possible (just
take any GNU program as template). Right now, the number of
contributors is still small and we can still make this change. Later
it may get ugly.
