Hi,
We had a talk on the french-language Wikipedia a few months ago about the 404 error page displayed to the user when he types an URL like http://fr.wikipedia.org/Anything, instead of typing http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anything. The following problems were mentioned: - auto-redirect is bad for accessibility - and localization should be possible
It seems to be MediaWiki-independent. The error page on Wikimedia projects is http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/404Handler.phtml.
Could it be possible to edit this page on our Wikipedia? Thanks.

It needs to be updated in general...
Here's a proposal for a prettified page: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17316
With a separate general note that we need a way to localize the message text: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12302
Since this isn't a squid-level error page we probably don't have to play the tricks with inline CSS/JS/stuff to do the localization, but I'm not sure what's the most desireable thing as far as localizing the template.

Thank you for sending me to this bugs. I like the proposal in bug 17316 (second attachment). I hope it will be soon integrated (with multilingual support of course)... :)
