Architecture Requests for Comments review meeting Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:00 PM UTC http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20131106T22 #wikimedia-meetbot IRC
The meeting is open to anybody. Still, it is useful to sign up in advance at the wiki page.
RFCs scheduled:
TitleValue https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/TitleValue
Configuration database https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Configuration_database
Allow styling in templates https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Allow_styling_in_templat...
Password requirements https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Password_requirements
Hi,
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Architecture_meetings/RFC_review_2013-11-06
We just finished the meeting, and you can find the notes at
http://integration-meetbot.instance-proxy.wmflabs.org/wikimedia-meetbot/2013...
We discussed TitleValue, Configuration database, and Password requirements. We didn't have time to review Allow styling in templates.
The next RFC review meeting is planned for November 20. Details to be posted here and at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Architecture_meetings
Thank you for your participation! Feedback to improve our future meetings is welcome.
PS: hashar says that the current location of these notes is not the most reliable, but what is the alternative? I will post the full log in the RFC wiki pages just in case. The relevant details should be documented there anyway.

Ideally we'd publish these notes to MediaWiki.org. I note that the upstream wishlist at https://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot has this item: "Publish to a wiki page? (I'll do it if someone gives me wiki-posting code)". Could be a nice side project.

I wasn't able to make the meeting, but about the action item for Password requirements, where Tim said, "what I would like from this RFC is for the discussion to be moved out to the talk page"
Agreed. I can try to help do this, if Chris or someone hasn't already. In general it seems like this RFC is conceptually pretty simple but just needs some word-smithing.

That would be really helpful! I'll add in the reset stuff soon too.

There are no RFCs scheduled yet. Seeing how the previous iterations went, perhaps the schedule could be defined by these priorities:
# RFCs previously discussed with actions completed. # RFCs previously scheduled that were left out because of lack of time. # New RFCs pushed by their promoters. # RFCs called by the architects for a resolution.
Up to you. I will be there operating MeetBot. :)
PS: let's reuse this thread for future meetings' announcements and notes.

This is in less than 24 hours.
There are no RFCs scheduled yet.
That is still the case.

Nobody has commented on this idea. Nobody has proposed a specific RFC for tomorrow either. Only two people have signed up in the wiki page.
I will be there operating MeetBot. :)
Actually I have another meeting at the same time. Even if I could cancel it, it would be good to know whether the meeting will be hosted -- and whether someone could volunteer operating the bot this time. It's easy.

Today we discussed three RFCs:
* Page deletion * Configuration database 2 * Text extraction

The Platform Core team has put forth two RFCs for possible discussion:
; Simplify thumbnail cache [0] : A proposal to change the thumbnail creation and caching pipeline. ; Structured logging [1] : A brand new draft proposal to alter the wfErrorLog() family of functions to make logged events carry more data and have a common output format.
