Hi all, the use I have in mind about this feature was in fact translation, rather than printing. Using a generative-grammar approach allows large scale economy while translating many articles dislpaying similar strucures. However -as I realised this night- extracting subsections can be easily dealt with be the use of Find/Replace and wildcards, plus some appropriate macroes applied to the XML code exported. Another idea, which came to me while thinking about how to solve this problem, is that it would be very useful the templates included within a page to be automatically exported together with that page. The purpose of Special:ExpandTemplates is precisely this: expand templates, magic words and parser functions into wikicode. Thus you would need two server calls: One to Special:Export and a second one to Special:ExpandTemplates with the section content.
