I recently noticed that the Persian translation for 'whatlinkshere-barrow' was removed from the language file because it was added to the ignore list [1]. I don't think this is okay. The direction of barrow is different in RTL languages, and as far as I know this hasn't been automatically taken care of inside the code (correct me if I'm wrong). So, RTL lanagues do need to translate the barrow. Before letting this be re-added and re-removed over and over again, I thought this debate should be solved for once. Please comment on this. If there is no objection, I'm going to readd that message in RTL languages.
Please bear in mind that, RTL languages are supposed to be used in RTL environment. If you test on English Wikipedia (or a similar one) and just put uselang=fa in the URL, the "different" direction of barrow may not make sense to you, and you may think the barrow should be in the same direction for all languages. But if you try Persian/Arabic/Hebrew/... wikis, you'll notice the required change.
Best,
Hojjat (aka Huji)

I've tested it several times, and noticed that this symbol > does not need translation, as it changes automatically to the right direction (and so do other brackets). See http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2008-July/038708.html .
Anyway, this message no longer exists. It was replaced by "whatlinkshere-backlink", which contains an arrow and does require translation in all RTL languages (arrows do not change automatically).

That's called mirroring. You can find a list of mirrored characters here:
http://www.unicode.org/Public/UNIDATA/BidiMirroring.txt
The left/right arrows, such as U+2192, are *not* mirrored, and so would need to be localised at the application level.
