I like the idea of a female name. Rodet and Tencin
have >the virtue of being short and easy to type?
Marie de Vichy-Chamrond
I found a quote from la marquise du Deffand
"It is only the first step which costs"
"Il ny a que le premier pas qui cote."
There is no article on wikipedia about her.
She should be called "Vichy-Chamrond"
Marie-Thrse Rodet
She is refered to as Mme "Geoffrin", not Rodet.
She held one of the most famous place. She sponsored
Diderot encyclopedia. She was a great interviewer,
famous for being very subtile a woman.
Mme Geoffrin focused on philosophy. She was not of
high birth (and I like the idea...though not of high
society origin, she was very well known, and really
had impact)
Julie de Lespinasse
She was a passionate... But she should be "de
Lespinasse". That is a bit of a problem.
Claudine Alexandrine Gurin de Tencin
She should be called "de Tencin" normally.
She was previously a nonne :-) From what I read, she
was very much of a manipulator. Mme de Tencin place
was very open, to actors, politicians...
Mme du Deffand, Mlle de Lespinasse, Mme Necker places
were very much open to women; there are sometimes
considered as feminists.
------
I support Geoffrin, that is a good name for a server
:-)))
