I'm creating the DB for the first time, and I saw a note here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/wikipedia/phpwiki/newcodebase/docs/sc… "The script "buildtables.sql" always contains the latest database schema for wikipedia software." Where can I find buildtables.sql?

This is a reeeeeeeeeeeeally old copy of the source from an branch abandoned in mid-2002. You want to look in the 'phase3' module, not 'phpwiki'.

You can't, as it doesn't exist. :) Try tables.sql. Note also that the schema has changed dramatically from 1.4 to 1.5. -- brion vibber (brion @ pobox.com)

Thanks, and what're the odds that 1.5 will land in production before, say, January 2006? I'm asking because I was thinking about doing analysis on the data tables, and it sounds like some abstraction may be needed.

By then, definitely - Brion's usually pushing for a release every couple of months, though it tends to be more like 3 or 4 months; I think. Anyway, 1.5 should be "finished" in June; I think. -- Rowan Collins BSc [IMSoP]

In updaters.inc, where it's run by the standard updaters (config/index.php or update.php). -- brion vibber (brion @ pobox.com)

OK, I see that the updaters.inc is re-runnable, and that it delegates creation of new db objects to patch files. It assumes an existing DB with certain schema. Does it assume 1.4.0 schema? Also, is there a way I can identify which changes were added after/prior to 1.4.4 (since that's the live wikipedia version)? Thanks very much for your previous helpful responses.
