I mentioned in the file formats thread trying out Fluendo's "Cortado" ogg
Vorbis/Theora player Java applet:
http://test.leuksman.com/video/
Would anyone be interested in a fun project of integrating this player into the
wiki's file display?
Infrastructure:
* Check the file headers for presence of audio and/or video streams, and the
width/height of the video
* Set up the <applet> with appropriate parameters
* (?) add some JS widgets to pause/play/restart if the applet can't be coerced
into showing such widgets itself
* Have JS to check for missing Java plugin and degrade gracefully to a
documentation message
Wiki integration, easy:
* Integrate the player into ImagePage display of the file
Wiki integration, advanced:
* Integrate the player into inline display in wiki pages (Not sure if this is a
good idea)
Note that Java applet security limitations mean that the applet can only load
files from the server the applet came from, so it may have to be embedded in an
<iframe> or something to run off
upload.wikimedia.org.
