Now that email confirmations have been enabled, there has been a fair amount of traffic to the OTRS resulting from people replying to the confirmation email they receive instead of clicking on the link in it.
The From: address of the confirmations is wiki@wikimedia.org, an address which is being redirected to the info-en OTRS queue.
There is nothing we at OTRS can do to help these people.
I would like to suggest that perhaps another From: address be used, ideally one that produces an automatic bounce.

It's not send to info-en directly. It goes into another queue first and only those that are not just 'thank you', 'I like wikipedia', 'where can I buy plane tickets' etc pp go to info-en.

The ones going to info-en should contain real questions. Like 'how do I edit?', 'what is this?', 'I used our university computer to sign up, is this bad?', 'This is all to complicated, can you please delete my account?'. Those should be answered by info-en people.

We'd need one per language, and a language specific bounce message. Or we should add a 'DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE!' to the email confirmation mails.
And proper loop detection - we receive dozens of 'please click this link to release your mail from the spam jail'.

Those emails "click to release email" are supposed to only come if an email was sent to that address before. And OTRS would only email the user if that user previously emailed to OTRS so the spam jail program shouldn't treat the email as 'from an unknown sender (spammer)'.
If you're talking about that kind of email being received as answer to the email confirmation, that should be filtered on the first list. If it gets marked as spam, the user should be able to found it in the spam folder.
I agree. Verifciations shouldn't go from wiki@wikimedia.org but from a MediaWiki: configurable email.

Disagree. Put it in the site configuration (which it is, so something's been buggered up there), not in the hands of a bunch of users who could do something stupid with it.
