Hi All,
I want to ask a question about the namespace alias redirection.
On the de.wikipedia.org, Benutzerin is the namespace alias of Benutzer, so http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzerin:Melly42http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fde.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBenutzerin%3AMelly42&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEVE2tAIqIUtu_x1PyhmAdbZvWtNg should redirect to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Melly42http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fde.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBenutzer%3AMelly42&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFZvSiDfV1Al5zTGohY1m5HZyk0iQ . But the real situation is http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Melly42http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fde.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBenutzer%3AMelly42&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFZvSiDfV1Al5zTGohY1m5HZyk0iQ redirecting to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzerin:Melly42http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fde.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBenutzerin%3AMelly42&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEVE2tAIqIUtu_x1PyhmAdbZvWtNg .
Anybody could tell me what happened?
Thanks!
This is due to an option in Special:Preferences where you can choose your sex. If it's unset or set to male, then Benutzerin will redirect to Benutzer. If it's set to female, then Benutzer redirects to Benutzerin. This is consistent with the German language. I've confirmed using a script that the Melly42 account has the sex set to female.
I'm actually rather impressed by this feature. It's a nice little use of the preference that I'd never seen before.
