Hi, I think it would be useful to have a way of seeing all the redirects for a given page, presented as a list of "aliases" that could easily be modified. It's currently not particularly easy to be sure that all the given permutations/combinations of spelling of a name exist. "What links here" mixes them in with other links, for instance. It's also fairly tedious to add redirects, particularly if you have to do it for a number of articles at a time.
So I was thinking it might be nice - if someone, such as an SoC'er :) - had the time, to display all the redirects to a given page in an editable format. At its simplest, it could be a simple multi-line edit box with a redirect on each line. When you add new lines, they would be converted to new redirects. Deletion of redirects via this method would require consideration...

A List can be done via a toolserver program.

And the subsequent update?
Perhaps there's something I'm missing about MediaWiki, but are queries like "get me all redirects pointing to this page" really so expensive? I mean, the "what links here" page does that. Obviously these references are cached somewhere, so, it shouldn't be any more expensive to display that list than to display the "what links here" page, right? Or is the problem that redirects are not flagged that way in the internal links table?
I'm speculating a lot :)

I've heard this before from Brian0918, and had some sample code at some time. I didn't finish it for a couple of reasons, but I bet it's still lurking about on one of these machines...

You're right, there are copyright issues here: any redirect that's the result of a merge has to be preserved so that the original editors are attributable.

Probably best just not to do it. It's not often that redirects need to be deleted anyway. The only harmful ones are stuff like "Monkey face -> [[George W Bush]]" or whatever.
