Somebody needs to commit to finally setting up and testing these things. Any volunteers? What exactly remains to be done with them?

Hello Brion,
I talked about it with Med and Submarine on #fr.wikipedia. The situation actually:
The three squids (ennael, chloe, bleuen) are accessible from outside and use debian.
There is some configuration example on wikidev squid page to set up squids. We should probably also create a new subdomain "paris" in "wikimedia.org." zone and get some entries there.
paris.wikimedia.org.
The proposal is on: http://wp.wikidev.net/DNS_scratchpad#paris_subdomain
That will be good enough for some testing. Hopefully squids can be configured to understand that http://fr.paris.wikipedia.org/ is indeed http://fr.wikipedia.org/
We can also do: fr.paris.mirrors.wikipedia.org
cheers,
