A few months ago I created an Ideatorrent site on request of the Wikipedia Usability Initiative team. We wanted to have integrated authentication with the rest of Wikimedia before promoting it, but that will likely be a while, and we think Ideatorrent could be useful to the community. For now, you'll need to create an account. So, here's the link:
http://prototype.wikimedia.org/en-idea/
I thought I'd start it off by adding an initial idea:
http://prototype.wikimedia.org/en-idea/ideatorrent/idea/4/
1-3 were tests. As of right now I am the only moderator/admin. If anyone has ideas on how we should handle moderation and/or admin rights, please let me know.
Respectfully,
Ryan Lane
Hoi, I created a profile on the torrent... I used my OpenID profile <grin>... The problem is that when I am logged in, I lose the sidebar on the left that allows me to enter an idea.. I am using FF on Ubuntu. Thanks, GerardM

Why are we segregating this onto yet another platform? this will just make things even more confusing for people and harder to track or access things in a centralized manner.
Especially when the same can be archived with a plain wiki anyway (as many of the WMF communities already do) or if you want to get fancier, with LiquidThreads which is now also active on a few projects.

Wikis aren't perfect for everything. We use Wordpress as a blog. We use Bugzilla as a tracker. A number of communities have tried Ideatorrent (or similar applications), and have found they work really well.
This platform gives the ability to vote ideas up and down, and to give solutions to ideas that can also be voted up and down. We do not have the ability to do this in MediaWiki right now.
Is there really any harm in trying something out?

Odd, this only happens when creating an account with openid. I'll take a look at this. Thanks for the feedback.

Found it. It seems to be some oddity with email confirmation. Can you see if it is working now?
Thanks,
