Subject: [Affiliates] Recognition of the Wikimedia Tool Developers Group
Hi everyone!
I'm very happy to announce that the Affiliations Committee has recognized
the Wikimedia Tool Developers Group [1] as a Wikimedia User Group. The
group is international cooperative of developers who create
freely-licensed
tools for improving the Wikimedia projects.
Please join me in congratulating the members of this new user group!

It's really awesome for me personally to see communities like this
form on their own. I'd like to extend an invitation to the new group
to collaborate with the Cloud Services team [2] and the Tool Labs
standards committee [3] in their program work. Efforts to make it
easier for people to develop, maintain, and publicize technical
contributions to the Wikimedia movement are important work for our
collective future.
Indeed, I was very happy to see this new group formed as well. Let me
extend the invitation to collaborate with the Onboarding New Developers
program [4] (work in progress), where we are looking for featured projects
[5] (also WIP) willing to get help from newcomers. Tools are clearly a good
entry point for developers approaching Wikimedia with a fresh mind and new
ideas. Current tool developers could also benefit more from our developer
support and activities. Having a representative group might definitely
help. Let's talk!
