What's up with the translation extension? The messages of the new Vector skin are translated into hungarian weeks ago on translatewiki, but since no update, and no translation extension to transfer these strings :[ I don't want to create all these pages on Hungarian Wikipedia, it's unnecessary on the long term. Having the translatewiki is good, but so slow transfer from it is very frustrating.
And what is the status of including JQuery? Life would be much much easier with it...

Hoi, TheDevilOnline and I have worked on the "LocalisationUpdate" extension. This extension allows for a daiily update of messages that are waiting in SVN to be updated on the Wiki. It works. I have been testing it for a couple of weeks. There are a few issues with the code .. minor issues.. I have been advocating the use of this code. I am also happy that we are starting to get some traction in the WMF. SO LocalisationUpdate is imho the way to go. Thanks, GerardM

the another big question is that why don't include JQuery to load automatically with _every_ pages? Now at least two wikis load JQuery v1.3.2 from common.js (see http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js, http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js), the UsabilityInitiative extension use JQuery v1.3.2 with cookie and browser plugins, and the collection extension use JQuery v1.3.2. Three JQuery, two version. This is not goooood...

Collection uses 1.2.5. I suppose we are waiting for ScriptLoader to be ready, but it would be really helpful if it would be included normally for the meantime so that site admins can start rewriting site-wide scripts. It has a very small footprint (20k minified and gzipped), it is unobtrusive (AFAIK 1.3 doesn't even conflict with other jQuery versions) and cannot be loaded through importScript() due to a bug in older Explorers, which leaves including it full in MediaWiki:Common.js which is not a nice sight...

Because the version of MediaWiki currently in production doesn't have or use jQuery, and the merging of the new-upload/scriptloader branch which begins to use and provide it is still in progress on dev trunk.
