I'm seeing a consistent 3 minute response time for a medium-sized file:

This seems pretty far out of normal performance.
Any ideas?

The machine is sorely overloaded, and in its current disk configuration is crap slow at the best of times.
A replacement has arrived but has a defective drive. Maintenance is scheduled.
