Another of Werdna's contributions: page protections can now have an expiration time added. The accepted input format is the same as for custom block times.
While we've put it through its courses, it's possible there's still some minor issues or corner cases, so give a shout if you notice anything awry!
There's also a Special:Protectedpages list, but it's not fully functional yet. (As well as a few minor issues, as it's marked 'expensive' it won't show any results yet on the live site as the cache is empty.)

Hooray! Thanks, Werdna.
Note that Special:Log correctly shows expiration time, but the 'automatic edit' doesn't, so when you see the history, there's a protection entry (with no unprotection) on an unprotected page.

Also, what message needs to be edited to show the expiration time in the protection log?

I just translated *MediaWiki:Protect-expiring *MediaWiki:Protectexpiry *MediaWiki:Protect_expiry_invalid
I don't find more related messages. If there're, please tell.

One issue, the expire time in the log is in UTC instead of the local time of the wiki.
Something else, is it possible to use the same interface for the duration as used in the duration of an user block. A selection menu with the options from MediaWiki:Ipboptions.

I presume leaving 'Expiry' blank makes it infinite, like previously? Maybe it would be good to change the text to 'Expiry (optional)' or 'Expiry (leave blank for indefinite protection)' to make the behaviour clearer.
