I added links to the source code (git) - extension download template ( https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:WikimediaDownload ) - rendered as part of the Exteninsion info box - https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download_from_Git#Download

Do note that we now have a broken link for every extension using this template that is not deployed by WMF...

Much better approach: to find a "live" way to have separate links - for extensions with and without repos in git !

Yes, you can do that after you revert the change that breaks a large percentage of the extension links.

How can the Extension Infobox Template actually detect live whether an Extension has already its repository in git ?
