The compromise agreed to by Erik and Timwi is to allow the Klingon Wikipedia, but to avoid interlanguage links. Accordingly, I have commented out the Klingon entry in $wgLanguageNames. This means that markup of the form [[tlh:wIqIpe'DIya]] will create an external link rather than an interlanguage link, just like links to meta or sep11. Otherwise the wiki is fully functional.
I find this a rather disappointing compromise. Either we consider this a valid Wikipedia, and then I would like to use it as such. Or we consider this not a valid Wikipedia, and then I have to wonder why we put it on Wikimedia in the first place. Can I get my own Wiki here too? I really get the feeling that the compromise is worse than either of the alternatives it is compromising between.
And I also want to reiterate that if we would find Klingon not worthy of a Wikipedia, then this should be doubly so for Tokipona.

I sure hope that it is temporary. If after a year the Klingon Wikipedia does turn out to be a real success, I'm pretty sure nobody will mind if we add inter-wiki links then. If by then the Klingon Wikipedia is quite obviously dead, nobody will mind getting rid of it again.

I was indeed assuming that the compromise of disallowing inter-wiki links to it would also apply to Toki Pona. After all, my entire goal in this discussion was not to have a Klingon Wikipedia, but to have Klingon and Toki Pona be treated equally.

I wasn't assuming the compromise applied to toki pona. If there is going to be a policy to remove all existing links to it, then you need to show there is consensus to do that. Wikitech-l is not the place to discuss such a policy so I'm moving this thread to wikipedia-l.
I don't feel the policy on Klingon should necessarily apply to toki pona. I don't have any strong feeling on whether that wikipedia should exist, but while it does, please stop removing links to it on the assumption that Klingon policies can be applied retroactively to any other controversial languages.

If Toki Pona Wikipedia did not already exist, I would not be in favor of allowing it. I think that Toki Pona is a vanity project and not a serious constructed language. (But, my knowledge is limited so my opinion of that is tentative.)
Given that we already *have* Toki Pona, my main interest is that we all understand that whatever we end up doing with it, it is an historical anomoly that should not be viewed as precedent setting for the future.
We should strive for consistency, but we should also recognize that perfect consistency must sometimes be adjusted to historical realities.

But the fact that inter-wiki links are disallowed does hinder progress in some manner to this Wikipedia language project. Imagine if we did that to say French.
The premise is that Klingon isn't worthy of having inter-wiki links just because it is a constructed language.
I'm sure that there are by now more people in the world that have heard of Klingon as a language, than of many minor natural languages. And even some major constructed languages, also.
I'm not a user of Klingon but I do support the right of any community using a standardized form of communication to be recognized and considered worthy of inclusion as a wikipedia language project.
To place restrictions on a certain language do to the bias and prejudice of some is unjust, it hinders the progress of the wiki in question and it gives it a mark of doom from the start.
Let's face it whether we may want it or not there are actually some folks out there who are quite into this language. It is by no means an easy language to learn. It is used in other projects like Google without bringing reproach to that website. For Wikipedia to make exclusions and restrictions seems highly unfair and biased.
