Hi, the registration to the Zürich Hackathon will open very soon.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Zurich_Hackathon_2014
Wikimedia CH is doing a great work putting in place the foundations of the event. There are two areas where they need help from the tech community:
* defining the schedule * processing travel sponsorship requests
We should have 3-5 experienced contributors in each of these areas, overlaps allowed. In the first case they would drive the definition of the schedule, with whatever community process they want to put in place. In the second place they would need to go case by case and decide privately as a team whether candidate X gets sponsorship or not.
Who wants to get involved in the program?
I'm happy to help with the sponsorship requests.
Please document in the wiki page. I will be on offline holidays on Feb 8-17, but you can ask any questions about the event to Manuel, CCed.
Thank you!

It could be just my mail client (gmail) but I do not see anybody in cc.

I still do not see anybody in cc. Maybe wikitech removes cc header.

I'm looking forward to this as I plan on bringing along some newbies.

- defining the schedule
How much of the previous years schedules can be reused?
How much do you want to reuse? :)
We are still in need of 2-3 volunteers to drive the schedule. I don't think it is much work and, as said, I can help.
Mark, would you like to volunteer providing the MediaWiki-not-Wikimedia perspective? Anybody would like to provide the Wikimedia perspective(s)? What about other perspectives?
Come on, it is a good chance to step in and do some good.
What do you need schedulewise?

We need someone driving the process of defining a schedule based on the characteristics of the venue, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Z%C3%BCrich_Hackathon_2014/Topics , and whatever other factors the Hackathon participants want to consider (pre-scheduled vs open slots, all-hands vs breakouts, lecture vs BoF vs workshop...)
It's not rocket science, but someone must be in charge.
I am willing to volunteer depending on the tasks. Time is not an issue for me.

Thank you Andrew, but I don't think this is a good task for a newcomer. It is a good task for regular contributors that haven't been previously involved in the organizations of events, though.
