Hello,
is there way similar to my Wikimania 2005 proposal of "Getlets" [1][2]
- to transclude text content of a file denoted by a (if possible to limit: trusted) URL - if possible, after sanitizing the content of the file
on MediaWiki pages ?
Purpose: To avoid duplication of content, especially for documentation of extensions, I wish to transclude a README file from our SVN on a Mediawiki extension page or subpage such as http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:OpenID .
What's your opinion ? Is is already possible ?
Tom

There is this partial solution to my question, (however this is not actived on MediaWiki, and I also do not request this)
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList_%28third-party%29
The code or configuration poses major security risks (see warning info on top of the page): "Allows users to inject arbitrary html (including javascript) into pages. This could allow an attacker to steal other people's accounts, or redirect users to another site (etc. See XSS) Doesn't adequately check the dplcache parameter. This allows user to overwrite certain files in the filesystem (if they end in .txt), and possibly display the contents of certain files. In the worst case, if apache is configured to support scripting languages using the AddHandler directive, this allows arbitrary code to be executed on the server."

It's trivial to make an extension that gets a file from a whitelisted location in the filesystem and shows it as wikitext or plain text in the page.

It would make sense to integrate this with the CR extension.
