Hi everyone!
In Semantic MediaWiki we have great but very long documentation. I've tried to write a small introduction to SMW. It's only in Russian now (I know that some amount of Russian MediaWikers are reading this mailing list), but I think to write something similar in English (maybe to IBM DeveloperWorks).

If you don't know Russian you can enjoy the pictures anyway ;)

That is a nice starter guide! Thank you, Yury!

I'll be definitely interested to have the english version. Well, to be honnest, I would prefer some magical recipe for Russian instant learning, but I doubt anyone can provide such a thing. ;)

Any ideas where to publish the English version? I was quite surprised when I found out that there is no collective blog in english internet as our Habrahabr.
I was thinking about IBM Developerworks but maybe they need something closer to the programming. Can I try to propose the article to http://blog.wikimedia.org/c/technology/ ? ----- Yury Katkov, WikiVote

Would the meta wiki be innapropriate?

Too small audience. The amount of questions to which SMW is the answer and
the amount holy wars in mailing lists about installing Semantic MediaWiki on Wikimedia websites is growing and ensures that everyone in MW worlds will sooner or later discover this extension for himself. My aim is to attract the attention to SMW from outside and show that with SMW MediaWiki can be much more than just wiki engine with ugly syntax that is used in Wikipedia, but a framework for interesting collaborative systems with consistent and dynamic content.

WikiData will also get queries sooner or later, so it seems unlikely that SMW will be widely deployed at most important Wikimedia sites. I remember that some time ago they said that SMW code is too large to review. Thus there was project to make SMW Light, I am unsure it was ever compete. Do not forget they run very high load sites like wpen or wpde, which probably have more traffic than Russian top sites like mail.ru or yandex.ru. Thus they want highly scalable extensions. It's interesting whether they will use external triplestore backend for WikiData. Dmitriy
How about the Semantic MediaWiki wiki?
http://semantic-mediawiki.org/
You can use http://docs.webplatform.org/ as an example of the wiki that has probably the same size of the user community as mediawiki.org. ----- Yury Katkov, WikiVote
