Has there been any discussion of prefixing the MySQL table names to avoid table name collision for those who only have access to one MySQL database and use other MySQL applications?
For example, Moveable Type uses "mt_", pMachine uses "pm_", and they also allow one to choose an installation-defined prefix.
I'm new to the list, and did a quick search on the nntp gateway, and couldn't find this question asked, but it may have been previously discussed.
thanks

Thought about it, haven't done it. A selectable prefix would require that we change how a lot of maintenance scripts run, since they generally have a fixed, manually runnable SQL script. That would no longer be possible.

And as we're at table names, could somebody rename user to users, so that it doesn't clash with Postgresql's keyword ?

If it's prefixed, wouldn't it not clash with the keyword?
mw_user would of course be fine.
