Hello, The full text search has been disabled en es.wikipedia. Is that on purpose for performance reasons?

Yes, it's disabled all around for the moment. Traffic on the server is very high thanks in part to recent publicity for the German Wikipedia.

I don't know what it is, but I find that 'Look at those barcharts!' line terribly amusing for some reason. They are pretty impressive charts, though... (and the referrer section is interesting... especially farther down. *eyes some of those site names askance*)

These numbers for the German Wikipedia are about 15% - 25% higher than those for susning.nu, for the same first 12 days of September 2003.
I think it is fair to admit that the German Wikipedia is taking over the position as the world's 2nd biggest wiki, even though the number of articles doesn't really reach susning's yet. With the German speaking population being ten times bigger than Sweden's this is inevitable, only a matter of time.
However, the "Suchausdrücke" / "Search strings" (hits with a referrer URL from a search engine) are much lower on the German Wikipedia than on susning.nu. How come? Does Wikipedia's configuration of Webalizer fail to recognize some (German) search engines? Or do Germans don't use search engines? Even the Swedish Wikipedia has more search string hits than the German Wikipedia.
