Due to a suggestion (forgot from whom, though...) the Tasks extension can now automatically create a task for a newly created article. This can be configured separately for article creations by logged-in users and anons (should we allow that again).
Major advantages of this mechanism over the "new pages patrol" are * tasks are not forgotten, even if noone checked the page for days or month * tasks can be closed by logged-in users, so patrols can focus on unchecked (new) articles
Magnus
P.S.: Thanks to Brion and Hashar for fixes and improvements!

Does this mean it might be active in the near future? :-D
This would also help with making Wikinews a bit more workflow-like, wouldn't it? Which would avoid unnecessary software forking.

Hello,
I've just tested the tasks extension (btw: amazing work so far, should be launched in the wikipedias ASAP!) and found a rather important bug in Opera 8.1: On the "Tasks"-page on any article, the SELECT-List containing the task types for creating a new task is just not visible ;) It's visible on the left side in firefox and IE, but in opera there's just a white space...
So what has still to be done until it can be launched? Just testing or are still features missing?
best regards, Frando
Hoi, When important bugs are not resolved, it seems obvious that it may need more testing. Is that not obvious ??
Thanks, GerardM

Opera doesn't do "height=100%" correctly. Fixed in both CVS HEAD and test site.
So what has still to be done until it can be launched?
Well, for one thing it's not a priority, but lots of other stuff is. On the other hand, it doesn't affect any of the "normal" wiki operations.

Depends. Are there any features missing? :-)
I thought about a selector to specify a "subtype". So, if the task is "expand", it would equal the "stub" template. But there are a gazillion of stub templates; so the taks should get a "subtype" (e.g. "history") to limit searches to history stubs ("Expand" tasks with subtype "history").
Or would that be overkill? We don't have to use the tasks for stubs, after all.

How about enabling searching within categories? Maybe I'll give you a few years...
