I actually found the issue in Bugzilla. It's listed as Bug #921. Not
sure why
it didn't pick up on the search for the error but I finally found it via
Google.
Since it is a current issue, I'll go ahead and fill in the rest of this email.

I'm trying to install 1.4.4 locally here and
I am having an issue.
I'm in the
setup page under
mydomain.com/config/index.php and I have filled out all the
necessary information under the site config and click the 'install' button.
The problem is I then get the "Something's not quite right yet; make sure
everything below is filled out correctly." with the additional error
of "Check
name/pass".
Please provide the diagnostic output from the installer up to that point.
I apoligize for not doing so the first time through:
Checking environment...
PHP 4.3.9: ok
PHP server API is apache; ok, using pretty URLs (index.php/Page_Title)
Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
PHP's memory_limit is 32M. If this is too low, installation may fail!
Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
Turck MMCache not installed, can't use object caching functions
Found ImageMagick: /usr/bin/convert; image thumbnailing will be enabled if you
enable uploads.
Found GD graphics library built-in.
Installation directory: /home/fillme/public_html/w
Script URI path: /w
MySQL error 1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using
password: NO)
Trying regular user... need password.
Something's not quite right yet; make sure everything below is filled out
correctly.
Only one problem. Database name, username, and
password are correct. I've
verified with under the command line and I can connect from that
fine. It just
won't do it under the install script.
Are you using MySQL 4.1 or later? Check the RELEASE-NOTES section about
that.
4.1.11. Again, it works find from the command line, just not from the
MediaWiki
install page.
I searched the mediawiki site but found no
mention. It appears that
the mailing
list is not searchable. (Wish it was)
Google search,
site:mail.wikipedia.org.
Tried that as well. (Well,
wikipedia.org instead of the mail) I will
keep it in
mind though for next time.
Thanks,
