Hey guys,
I just wanna say a _big_ thank you to all the people that were involved in the design and maintaince of the upload system on Commons! Over 140k of pictures in a month on top of the regular traffic is something.
And if we got around to this, can you tell us when were the most pictures uploaded per minute/hour/day? Do you guys have such statistics?
Thanks A LOT, Strainu
It would be rather easy to find those number, just need to parse the upload logs. (grab a dev or file a DBQ request https://jira.toolserver.org/browse/DBQ )

max day: 2011-09-30 = 21928 max hour: 2011-09-30 21:00:00 = 2855 max minute: 2011-09-30 20:04:00 = 72
As far as I know there aren't stats of uploads broken down by both upload time and category, so I made some. If you want to make pretty graphs here's some raw data.

Note, some people added old images to WLM retroactively, so the data starts with stuff that was uploaded years ago.
