Dear list,
maybe a stupid question, but...
our wiki lost almost all entries from Recent changes. Mysql logs said
DELETE FROM `recentchanges` WHERE rc_timestamp < '20070317115213';
I looked into apache logs, but could not find any http request around the time when this DELETE query was issued.
Any possible (automated?) script which deletes recent changes table? Which one? (And why?)
The only information I came across was http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Rebuildall.php which states that 1.5rc4 might empty recentchanges table. However we use 1.5.6.
Any possibility to rebuild recent changes table from page history data?
Thanks for your patience.
Regards, Nino

It happens every few requests; the software itself deals with it.

Prune the table to keep it free of expired data.

maintenance/rebuildRecentChanges.php, although it might ignore the entries if MediaWiki has deleted them for being "old" - you could raise the $wgRCMaxAge value (or whatever it's called...check DefaultSettings.php)

Ok - but it's however strange that it hasn't been deleted for more than a year - and today all of a sudden...

Great, thanks - it worked like a charm :-)
Nino PS: shall I put this information into meta.wikipedia.org? Or does it now go to mediawiki.org?

All new documentation regarding MediaWiki goes on MediaWiki.org.
