In that case let me reiterate my suggestion to read "How to become a Mediawiki hacker" on the mediawiki.org web site. This should give you an idea of how we do things. Get acquainted with Bugzilla and the regulars on IRC (channel #mediawiki on freenode). Patches are always welcome, so just dive on in and find something you can work on.

Small bug fixes are probably the best place to get started - bugzilla is full of them (look for the "easy" keyword). Once you're familiar with how the code is all laid out you can look into working on bigger projects.
