IlyaHaykinson has built an extension which allows for quick bulleted lists of articles based on categories and last edits. http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1411

What it does is allow layouts which automatically update the latest articles in a topic area. For example, a section on the main page could include a list of articles which are categorized with [[Category:United States]] and [[Category:Elections]] to get a list of the most recently edited articles both the United States and Elections categories.

The Wikinews projects are all waiting for this enhancement to get through whatever vetting process is required before implementation. What can be done to facilitate this?
