I cannot access www.en.wikipedia.org, I know this isn't supposed to be the right domain but I am sure many users make this mistake from time to time, and it can easily be avoided by enabling some new dns aliases.
remove that www from the browser

Yes, of course I know that, but in many cases browsers add a www. For example, I am used to press the down arrow key after I type an address, because this causes Konqueror to add www. To understand better what I mean, you need to see how I use my browser:
1. If I want to visit my website, I type wikinerds.org and I press the down key arrow, so the browser takes me to http://www.wikinerds.org 2. When I wanted to visit English Wikipedia before the introduction of the Portal, I was just typing wikipedia.org and then I was pressing the down arrow key. So I was being redirected to http://en.wikipedia.org 3. Now, I *should* type en.wikipedia.org and press Enter to visit directly the English Wikipedia, but because I was used to the down arrow key before, many times I still press it and I end up at http://www.en.wikipedia.org
I am sure I am not the only surfer which does that mistake, so I think a dns alias www.en would be useful. Users are too used to www.
NSK....
Stop the spam please.

http://www.nl.wikipedia.org works. But that is only because I asked it when NL moved to faseIII.
It is true that it whould be good if *.XX.wikiPROJECT.org whoud point to something. Best to xx.wikiPROJECT.org.
To www.wikiPROJECT.org whould also not be bad if that is less work.

I have just encountered a link to www.sr.wikipedia.org, so I agree completely.
