Hi,
I am trying to see whether there is a simple way of doing the following, or at least how I could do it it with MediaWiki markup:
Some pages in my Wiki will have right hand columns where boxes will be put, that have tid bits and other stuff that needs to stand out. Something like:
+------------------+-----------------+ |H1 |+---------------+| | || heading || | |+---------------+| | || content || |H2 || || | |+---------------+| | | | +------------------+-----------------+
When they are present the text and headings (which have a background color), should not wrap into the column where the boxes are. Also, the boxes are going to have multi-line text and will share the same style.
How would I go about achieving this?

Andre,
Are you going to have the tables on every page and is the content dynamic? If the tables on the right are a rarely changing staple for every page I would suggest you change the skin. If otherwise start your tables with: {| class="newrighttableclass" And then add .newrighttableclass{} to your main.css.
Also, this is probably more on topic with the Mediawiki list mediawiki-l@lists.wikimedia.org, as opposed to the wikitech list, since it is a MW admin question not exactly a developer question. But then again, I generally get confused about that myself.

If this is what you want: http://en.kayakwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page
I did it with a template:
http://en.kayakwiki.org/index.php/Template:Sidebar
If you want to copy the template, the important part follows the </noinclude> statement.
