Sorry for bothering you - we found it.

Obviously, it was the php session module that wasn't installed.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: session_set_cookie_params() in /srv/www/htdocs/wiki/includes/User.php on line 144

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
