I didn't send that message. Isn't there a way of preventing emails with forged headers like this reaching the list?

Hm one thing would be using emails with digital signatures (like for example Brion does). I did try something like that when I was confronted with the same problem at wikipedia-de-l.
However I had some problems with signing my PGP/GPG key at CA-Cert (a not signed certificate is a bit useless IMHO) and didn't find the time do do it right (why does crypto need to be so complicated ;-).

Not practically. Welcome to e-mail! 1970s security for a 2000s world.

Imagine the crazy fun that could be had on April Fools' Day if we were a bit more malicious.

This was done before with Brion's email. He then put his address under moderation. Could be done for you too, though imho it's impractical.
Arnomane, does mailman prevent emails with invalid signatures from being posted?

How do we know you didn't send it, and then ask an accomplice to disclaim it using faked mail headers!? Oh, the impersonation conspiracies.
On the plus side, if you want to spam anything, here's your chance to do it without irking people, since we all know you're having "difficulties"....
