Please be patient for my question. We (into it.source) are faced with Vector skin, and all our beloved editing js gadgets are lost. My question is: is it technically possible to imagine a *js floating box as a container for buttons, menus and so on*? It would be great since customable buttons & menu are often unconfortable for their fixed location into the edit window.
If it's impossible.... simply tell me "It's impossible". :-)

The enhanced edit toolbar is easily customizable in JS, so you wouldn't need to reinvent the wheel just to add a few buttons. The floating thingy you describe is probably possible, yes, but requires more coding.

Great news!!! But... where can we found some doc about "easy costumization" of enhanced toolbar for source project? There's a peculiar *proofread *interface only used by source projects....

http://usability.wikimedia.org/wiki/Toolbar_customization . Currently this is a bit too technical, I'll work on making it more accessible this week. The ProofreadPage extension (I assume that's what you meant) has gotten some love yesterday to make it compatible with Vector and the enhanced toolbar: the arrows no longer show up in a dropdown menu and its JS doesn't break the edit page any more. These changes are currently in SVN and will hopefully go live soon.
