Hello!
My name is Elena Enacache and I graduated from the Faculty
of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Bucharest, Romania.
I really enjoy open source programming, it makes me happy
because I feel that I can put in practice my creative ideas, I can contribute
to an existing project and try to give something back.
I have already contributed to some existing open source
software products which helped me to get experience. One of them is GNOME
Music. I started to contribute to this project while being enrolled in a 3
months CDL course organized by ROSEdu (Romanian Open Source Education) and I have
improved my skills on working with Git, Python, GTK , Grilo and I had a great
collaboration with my mentor. Another one is an Android app called Mood Player
which detects the user’s mood using facial recognition and pattern matching and
recommends songs that match the detected mood.
I was very happy to see that Wikimedia is again a
participant of the FOSS Outreach Program for Women, because I would love to
apply to this internship with one of Wikimedia’s projects. Since I’m still
undecided and I don’t know which project
suits me best, I would like to know which projects would you recommend in terms
of importance for your organization.
I would like to mention that this summer I have been doing
an internship during which I have been programming using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
and Android in the eLearning department and I have also attended some courses of PHP at
the university.
However, I’m willing to learn a lot of new things because I want to improve
myself in different directions.
Thank you very much!
Kind regards,
Elena

Dear wikimedians,
The Free and Open Source Souftware Outreach Program for Women offers paid
internships to developers and other technical profiles working on projects
together with free software organizations. Wikimedia is participating
again, and we welcome candidates.

This call is open to Wikimedia volunteers (editors, developers...) and also
to people that would contribute for the first time in our projects. In the
past editions we have seen that candidates coming through a direct
recommendation have good chances of success. It is also known that many
good potential candidates will be reluctant to step in, but they will if
someone (like you) encourages them to apply, or to contact us with any
questions.
You can make a difference. If you know women with software development or
open source background / interest and full time availability between
December and March, please forward them this invitation. Thank you!
