To implement a proxy scanner/blocker was an idea I had in early February some time, when I saw simple vandals using anonymous proxies to evade bans.
What code are you using to detect open proxies? Could you post it, or email it to me privately?

It should be in our CVS repository on sourceforge (head branch).

Brion speaks the truth. EditPage::proxyCheck() forks one process for each port to be scanned. The script to scan a single port is proxy_check.php. The request is proxied and returned to SpecialBlockme.php, which enters the block into the database. The code is slightly out of date, the latest modifications were made straight to the live version and haven't been committed to CVS yet .
