The HTML 4.1 recommendation (
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/text.html#h-9.3.4 ) seems to hint
that the tag PRE should be used for poetry (see their example). There's
still a few problems with it (like the monospace font), but nothing a
little stylesheet magic couldn't fix up.
