FYI, I've added a couple rewrite rules to the config on de-beta.wikipedia.org:

RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ([^&;]+) RewriteRule ^/wiki.cgi$ /w/wiki.phtml?title=%1 [L] RewriteRule ^/wiki.cgi$ /w/wiki.phtml

With these in place, URLs in the form of: http://de.wikipedia.com/wiki.cgi?Deutsche_Mark http://de.wikipedia.com/wiki.cgi?Nat%FCrliche_Zahlen etc

which are linked everwhere in the universe should continue to work when de.wikipedia.com becomes merely an alternate name of an upgraded de.wikipedia.org.
