Hello,
It seems that wikipedia is using the 1.3.0beta4, does
it ? Or is it slightly different from this beta. When
do you think there will be a release candidate ? And
can i use it in a production env ? because if you use
it, it should be enough stable to give a try.
The live site is running CVS HEAD, plus a few ad-hoc modifications for
task-based DB load balancing. Betas 1-4 have a serious problem with link
table updates that was causing problems on Wikipedia, it's now fixed in
CVS. It was a concurrent update problem, so you might not see it on a
low-traffic wiki.
Anyway, 1.3 has indeed been running on the live site for a while now, so
any feature that's used by Wikipedia is pretty well tested. We had
reports of installation problems on environments that are not like
Wikipedia's, but they should be mostly sorted out now. If you do have an
installation problem, we'd like to hear about it.
I wonder if its possible to personnalized the left
menu. I mean, integrating it in a portal for example ?
I just need to had other possibility in the menu.
Which files I should modify ?
It's possible, I don't have much experience with this though. To modify
the new "monobook" skin, the relevant files are includes/SkinPHPTal.php,
templates/xhtml_slim.pt and stylesheets/monobook/main.css
