Some examples: the closing }} of a template may actually be contained in the definition of another template, same with thables. I have seen |} being replaced by something like {{TableEnd}}. Lots of fun there.
Also there are people who use date/time to switch between template contents... it's really funny how people can use something like the MW markup - they end literally there where no man eh coder has been before.
