Then you should definitely read the release notes, and confirm that you understand what's said there about MySQL 4.1 and that you have made sure you have configured your system appropriately.
Actually we're already doing the old passwords for a different program that didn't work well either.
It finally clicked this afternoon and installed fine. Had to refresh a couple of times but it finally went through. Not sure if the host did an upgrade or something. *shrug* At least it works now.
