Sadly Google stick to cheer for their WebP-crap, my ticket #539120 for the chromium project dated back to late 2015, while there are some supporters, the main reason was back then 'it's not yet finalized' which isn't true anymore.
Since we need the Poly-flif stuff anyway - not any user uses the latest or the most advanced browser(s/ versions) - it's a good starting point, isn't it?
I also create a feature request for all my daily driver software to get FLIF support to this stuff too.
